Zip Files come up "invalid or currupted" won't load

Purchased and downloaded Zip files and can't get them to decompress. When double-clicked on the Zip folder, it comes up "The compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted" I tried the downloaded .exe files and they come up "File Access Error" then a box that says "Couldn't Load the install script (error code 0x80660002)Install will be terminated"

Using a Zire 71 w/64mb card - Windows XP on PC

What can I do?
