This is a file that contains an image (for now, in future it may contain other things as well), which, for whatever reason, has to be separated from the main program. The file will be automatically created if it is needed and will reside in the RAM memory of the device. It is very small, so you normally shouldn't worry about it.
It *may* give trouble to backup software such as BackupBuddy or others, but that should not be a bummer, since the program knows how to reproduce it when it needs it.
