From the sound of it, you do have the Pro version.
The lookup function may not work in some applicaitons, as explained in the user manual; in addition, version 4.95 also has a bug disscussed in other forum articles, which shows sometimes and prevents from automatic resident lookup; upcoming 5.0 will resolve this problem, it is a matter of days and it is free.
On the sound issue, have you checked the sound volume settings in the general Preferences of your Clie? Is the icon enabled or crossed with line? If it is enabled, then almost surely the problem is with the sound volume.
