This is the most common problem reported by Blackberry users.
The resolution is to obtain the latest Blackberry desktop AND handheld software releases from your carrier and install them - on the desktop and on the handheld respectively.
Most, if not even all Blackberry devices shipped in stores before late 2004 DO NOT come with instant capability of installing applicaitons via desktop; they need to be upgraded first.
The upgrades, to the best of our knowledge, are free with all carriers.
