First, thank you for ordering the English dictionary.
As you describe it, it sounds like you have not installed the word list database for the spelling checker.
It is a separate download from the program itself, although it is on the same download page. Read the instructions there carefully.
Note there is nothing in common between the English dictionary application and the LexSpell spelling checker application for BlackBerry, except probably the way they are structured.
The dictionary has a program module (BDicty dictionary reader) which requires one or more data (dictionary) modules to be installed. BEIKS calls those dictionary lexicons or topic lexicons (phrase books).
LexSpell also has a program module (the LexSpell itself) and also requires a data module, which contains all the words that the spellchecker needs.
The data modules of the two programs are very different in structure, contents and organization and, of course, not interchangeable.
