Palm Tungsten T3 Dynamic Input Area compatibility update files

10 October 2003

Introduction
Soon after the official release of the Palm Tungsten T3 handheld users have found that many third party applications do not provide the full dynamic input area support they claim.

Developers, on their turn, quickly found that the actual Tungsten T3 devices shipped to the stores behave differently from the emulation environment they were provided by Palm One to develop and test their applications against.

Explanation
The reason for the problem, it turned, was a packaging mistake at Palm One's side: two incorrect files were included in the core package of Tungsten T3.

Those two files are responsible for bridging the Tungsten T3's specific  dynamic input management technology to the standard one announced by Palm Source and given to developers.

As a result, the built in T3 applications, who rely on the internal system behavior are able to work correctly, but all other 3rd party applications fail to properly manage the dynamic input area.

Resolution
Palm One was quick to respond to developers and supply them with the proper file versions that were originally meant to be shipped in the device. PalmOne has also unofficially said they hope to include those in a service release pack for T3 owners, along with fixes to other T3 issues, such as the infamous MMC burning error.

Until such a ROM or RAM service pack is officially available by Palm One, users are encouraged to download and install the correct DIA files, supplied directly by PalmOne.

You can download a copy of the correct DIA program files (hosted locally at BEIKS.com).

We also encourage you to go to Palm One's website and see if the official patch is already available.

Note: BEIKS LLC is not responsible for any harm, direct or implied, from installing or not installing this extra files. BEIKS LLC guarantees those files are obtained directly from PalmOne and were not anyhow modified.
