| Using BeFTP to download
dictionaries for BEIKS Dictionary Reader to media card
This is a step-by-step pictorial guide of how to use
BEIKS' BeFTP to download dictionaries to the phone's media
card.
Note you must have already downloaded, installed and ran
once BEIKS
Dictionary Reader 5.0 on the BlackBerry.
Naturally, when you run it BEIKS Dictionary Reader would
report that it can not find installed dictionaries. That is OK.
1) Download BeFTP
. You do NOT need to pay for it if all you are going to be using it for is
downloading Bibles or dictionaries from BEIKS' website.
2) Run BeFTP from the main application launcher on your
BlackBerry:

3) Shortly after launching, a registration screen should
appear. Hit the CONTINUE button unless you plan on using BeFTP often or
for profit purposes:

4) In the main BeFTP screen, click the "Open BEIKS public
FTP" to connect to the BEIKS public file server.
5) If everything is right you should shortly see a
picture of a folder called "public". If the BlackBerry stalls or you
receive an error then you will have to troubleshoot
your BeFTP connection.

6)
Select and click the "public" folder; that should reveal another list of
folders. There may be one or more, the one you need is called
BlackBerry:

6)
Continuing the same way, navigate to the dictionaries 5.0 folder by
entering, in order, the "Dictionaries" and the "5.0" folders, until you
reach the contents of folder
"/public/BlackBerry/Dictionaries/5.0":
 As you
can see the various dictionaries are placed in separate folders. You can
download the ones you are interested, one by one, by entering the
according folders and downloading the files from there to the media card
of your BlackBerry. Let us say you want to download the contents of the
Bouvier's law dictionary (the first in the list).
7) Select and
click "Bouvier-Dictionary" folder to enter it and see its
contents:
 Every
dictionary is represented by three or more files and they all need to be
downloaded, one after another.
8) Select and click the first file
in the list to download it. BeFTP comes up with a screen inviting you to
select a target folder where the file will be saved. This is a crucial step as BEIKS Dictionary Reader expects
dictionaries to be located in a certain folder on the media
card!

9)
BEIKS Dictionary Reader 5.0 expects to find dictionaries in the
"/BlackBerry/BEIKS/Dictionaries/" folder or some of its sub-folders on the
media card. Doing the same as before, select and open "SDCard" and then
"BlackBerry". Then if the "BEIKS" folder does not exist, press the
menu of your BlackBerry and select "New folder", create the new folder
"BEIKS" and open it. Do the same with the subfolder named
"Dictionaries" and you should get this screen:

10) Hit the menu button and choose "Download here..." from
it:

BeFTP should display the download size progress in the
status bar of your BlackBerry. We recommend that you do not use the
device until the download is complete.
Upon download completion, BeFTP will display a
message.
Do the same with the second and third files and you are
done downloading this dictionary!
Notes: - You may download all
files for the different dictionaries within the same folder on the card or
you may create sub-folders in it, like they are created on the BEIKS FTP
server; BEIKS Dictionary Reader will find them either way, as long as they
are inside the dedicated folder for storing BEIKS Dictionary files. -
This version of BeFTP does NOT allow download resumes; if a download was
broken for whatever reason, you will need to overwrite the file and
download it from the beginning.
